Overview

The Maharajas' Express offers a spectacular and opulent tour through India and is one of the world's most luxurious train journeys.   India's historical and architectural riches are explored while travelling, which includes stops at UNESCO World Heritage Sites and other well-known locations. Passengers may take in the splendour of India from the ease of their bedrooms due to the enormous panoramic windows, which provide stunning views of the passing landscapes. The Maharajas' Express offers a variety of itineraries that go through different parts of India and highlight the country's rich cultural legacy, important historical sites, and breathtaking natural beauty. From a few days to a week or more, these itineraries are available.

There are 4 Maharaja Express. The journey either begins from Delhi or Mumbai. 



Itinerary

Day
1

Departure from Delhi

When you arrive at the Safdarjung Railway station on time, you will be offered a lovely greeting. A personal attendant will accompany you to your private cabin as you board the train. After boarding, proceed to the bar lounge to enjoy the complimentary beverage. The train sets off for its initial stop in Jaipur. Feel free to stroll around the luxurious train. While travelling, savour the wonderful lunch and dinner served at the train's restaurant.

2

Jaipur -Pink City Tour

When you arrive at the Jaipur Railway station, you will be greeted in a big, traditional manner. Then, you can start exploring the city. Visit the Hawa Mahal, commonly referred to as the Palace of Wind, which is renowned for its many "jharokhas" windows. Then, visit City Palace to admire its exquisite Mughal & Rajput style architecture. Visit Jantar Mantar, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, later.  

Visit the Amber Fort, another UNESCO World Heritage Site, in the afternoon and take an elephant ride up to the hilltop fort. Take advantage of the fort's restaurant for lunch, then set aside the evening to explore the market area.

Explore the well-known pink city markets, like Johari Bazar, Bapu Bazar, and Nehru Bazar, in the evening and go shopping for jewellery, gems, handicrafts, and antiquities. Arrive at the next station by dusk.

Early Morning: Ranthambore And Afternoon: Chittorgarh

Early arrival at Sawai Madhopur Railway Station is recommended in order to experience the Ranthambore wild safari. Get up-close encounters with tigers, leopards, deer, birds, crocodiles, nilgai, wild boars, and other animals in their natural environments while on your safari. Enjoy both breakfast and lunch on the train as you head back to the station.

The train arrives at the Chittorgarh Railway Station in the late afternoon. Upon arrival, pay a visit to the Chittorgarh Fort, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, to kick off your journey. It is renowned for its gorgeous architecture, deft carvings, and a large number of palaces, temples, and towers. It also has a long history. Enjoy the evening programmes held in the fort before leaving before midnight for your next stop.

Udaipur- City of Lakes

Early in the morning, a train pulls up. Explore the City Palace of Udaipur after breakfast. This stunning specimen of Rajasthani architecture gives amazing views of the city and lake. Additionally, go to Saheliyon ki Bari, which is famed for its stunning architecture, fountains, lotus pools, and luscious flora. 

Sajjangarh Monsoon Palace, which overlooks the city from a hilltop, is best seen in the late afternoon. 

Take a relaxing boat ride around the Lake Palace on Lake Pichola. Dinner is served on board the train as you return.

Jaisalmer : Oasis in desert

Arrival at Jaisalmer in the morning. 
the UNESCO World Heritage Site Jaisalmer Fort, which you should see. Its distinctive golden colour is a result of the fort's distinctive construction, which was built from yellow sandstone. 
Visit Patwon ki Haveli, known for its dexterous architecture, ornate carvings, and distinctive style. Continue on to Gadisar Lake, a tranquil lake with a rich history. 

Enjoy the cultural performance and camel ride on the Sam Sand Dunes in the late afternoon. A memorable way to experience the desert surroundings is on a camel ride. At a five-star hotel, savour Rajasthani food before boarding the train again at night.

6

Jodhpur : The Sun City

The Mehrangarh Fort, which was erected in the 15th century and sits atop a hill overlooking the city, is the first stop on your itinerary after arriving at the Jodhpur Railway Station. A large and spectacular collection of royal clothing and mediaeval weapons may be found inside the fort complex's museum. 
A beautiful marble cenotaph named Jaswant Thada was constructed in the 19th century in honour of Maharaja Jaswant Singh II and is situated next to the fort. Visit Umaid Bhawan Palace later. This majestic palace is now a luxury hotel and museum. On the train, ride back to the station.

7

Early Morning: Bharatpur and In the Afternoon: Agra

Visit the Bharatpur Bird Sanctuary as soon as you arrive in Bharatpur. This UNESCO World Heritage Site is a haven for birdwatchers and other environment lovers. A wide variety of bird species live there, including migratory birds that come throughout the winter. Return to the train and have breakfast there. the journey to Agra.

Arrive at the Agra Railway Station, where a transfer will take you to the Agra Fort, a historically significant fort composed of red sandstone that is included as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. 

The UNESCO heritage site and one of the 7 wonders of the world Taj Mahal, an iconic mausoleum made of white marble and constructed in the 17th century, is the major attraction of your trip to Agra.
 Go back to the train.

Agra to Delhi

Early in the morning, the train arrives back at Delhi Safdarjung Railway Station, and guests check out after breakfast.
